First Reactor Coolant Pump Delivered To Vogtle Expansion Project

Georgia Power said Monday that the construction site for the Plant Vogtle expansion project had accepted delivery of the first reactor coolant pump for the new units.

The Curtiss-Wright Corporation-furnished component arrived via truck from Cheswick, Pa. It is the first such pump delivered to any AP1000 construction project in the United States, Georgia Power noted in a statement.

The critical component weights 187.5 tons or 375,000 pounds. Each of the two new units will have four installed reactor coolant pumps. Read more or commen
