2015 C3E Symposium
Dear Colleagues,

We are only five days away from the Fifth Annual U.S. Clean Energy Education and Empowerment (C3E) Women in Clean Energy Symposium. We hope you will be a part of the Symposium by watching our live (free!) webcast and joining the conversation on social media.

The theme of this year’s C3E Symposium is The Role of Women Internationally in Decarbonizing our Energy Future. Importantly, this year’s C3E Symposium comes the day before the seventh Clean Energy Ministerial and the inaugural Mission Innovation Ministerial – two meetings where world energy ministers will come together to discuss the deployment of today’s clean energy technologies and the investment in research and development needed to create new technologies. It is essential that both women and men participate in these conversations. The C3E Symposium will include the following speakers:
  • The Honorable Ernest Moniz, U.S. Secretary of Energy
  • The Honorable James Carr, Minister of Natural Resources from Canada
  • The Honorable Nils Vikmång, State Secretary to the Minister of Energy from Sweden
  • The Honorable Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy
  • Mary Nichols, Chair of the California Air Resources Board
Additional speakers on the webcast include:
  • Heli Antila, Fortum Oyj, Finland
  • Sally Benson, Stanford University
  • Marilyn Brown, Georgia Tech University
  • Etosha Cave, Opus 12
  • Ping Chen, Chinese Academy of Sciences
  • Dian Grueneich, Stanford University
  • Shazia Khan, Eco Energy Finance
  • Melanie Kenderdine, U.S. Department of Energy
  • Joan MacNaughton, World Energy Council

  • Cheryl Martin, World Economic Forum
  • Katrina Pielli, USAID
  • Nicole Poindexter, Energicity
  • Wanda Reder, S&C Electric Company
  • Maria Rigatti, Southern California Edison

  • Richenda Van Leeuwen, Senior Energy Access Advisor
  • Alla Weinstein, Trident Wind
  • Mechthild Wörsdörfer, Director for Energy policy, European Commission
  • Cathy Zoi, Frontier Power

Throughout the day, speakers will discuss key energy topics, including post-Paris implementation, energy start-up companies, and clean energy in emerging economies and the role of women leaders.

The 2016 C3E Award winners will be announced throughout the event. The C3E Awards recognize the outstanding leadership and extraordinary achievements of women working to advance clean energy. This year there are eight mid-career winners and one distinguished woman being recognized for lifetime achievement.
