New regs for Thursday: Nuclear, petroleum, airlines

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is drafting new safety guidelines for nuclear power plants.

The guidelines suggest methods to “demonstrate that a nuclear power plant is safe for restarting after a shutdown caused by a seismic event,” the agency said.

The public has 60 days to comment.
