Trump’s science wish list shuns climate research and advanced manufacturing (and also ignores his budget)

Trump’s science wish list shuns climate research and advanced manufacturing (and also ignores his budget).
The White House published a memo telling federal agencies how they should focus scientific efforts. The priorities: military superiority, security, prosperity, energy dominance, and health. (Climate science and advanced manufacturing, both priorities for Obama, are absent.) It also urges a focus on basic science, to allow industry to pursue promising new technologies. Commentators tell Science that the suggestions are at odds with Trump’s budget cuts—especially over early energy research, which is currently funded by an agency the president plans to axe.
