Davis-Besse, Perry nuclear plants could close as FirstEnergy inks deal with hedge funds | cleveland.com: FirstEnergy has signed a $2.5 billion investment deal with four high-powered private investor groups, including one whose founder has been described as "the last hedge fund pit bull," to help the company re-structure its power plant subsidiary FirstEnergy Solutions, if the FES board files for bankruptcy. The power plants are losing money, and the company has said 2016 it would sell or close them without extra customer charges.
