The Senate's recently announced bipartisan budget agreement
includes a provision that would eliminate the "in-service" deadline for
the nuclear production tax credit. The provision would allow Vogtle to
qualify for the credit, even if startup occurs after 2020. The provision
could also help SMR and advanced reactor projects take advantage of the
remaining credit in the next decade. It's not much to look at, but if
you are feeling especially wonky, the provision can be found on Page 217
of the
agreement.
