Savannah River Site restarts liquid waste operations after outage work - News - The Augusta Chronicle - Augusta, GA: Liquid waste operations at Savannah River Site have restarted after a 15-month outage to replace and upgrade equipment and facilities.The Defense Waste Processing Facility is again pouring canisters of glassified high-level waste after workers completed extensive maintenance during the outage since February 2017, according to a news release. Savannah River Remediation, the liquid waste contractor at SRS, began replacing the DWPF melter, the key vessel that vitrifies high-level radioactive waste
