Ruling upheld against PG&E in Lafayette tree-removal project: The fate of PG&E's plan to uproot hundreds of trees in the city -- which is already up in the air because of the utility's bankruptcy filing -- was dealt another setback when a state appeals court again sided with a grassroots group opposed to the project. In a ruling announced Feb. 8, the Court of Appeal's First Appellate District reaffirmed its finding that a Contra Costa County Superior Court judge had erred when he ruled that the 90-day statute of limitations had expired on the Save Lafayette Trees' request for an environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act. The court had initially ruled on Oct. 23, 2018, that the CEQA claim was filed in time.
