Lafayette group wants PG&E pipeline safety task force
Lafayette group wants PG&E pipeline safety task force: The grassroots group against PG&E's plan to uproot hundreds of trees in Lafayette is now pushing for the city to create a pipeline safety task force. Michael and Gina Dawson, founders of Save Lafayette Trees, have asked the city to create a citizen oversight committee. The Dawsons cited "the lack of confidence" in Pacific Gas & Electric, which has been found negligent of pipeline safety laws in 2010 in San Bruno. However, both Gregg Wolff, acting planning and building director, and City Attorney Mala Subramanian are recommending that the Lafayette City Council to reject the request, according to a staff report that will be presented at Monday night's council meeting.
