Power play could reduce fire risk | Mail Tribune

Power play could reduce fire risk | Mail Tribune: Pacific Power may shut off electricity in parts of Jackson and Josephine counties when wildfire danger spikes. Concern about the plan has prompted officials in both counties to meet with Pacific Power. In Jackson County, areas around Ashland, Shady Cove, Prospect, Butte Falls, the Applegate Valley and the town of Rogue River face a higher risk of utility-sparked wildfires igniting and spreading into catastrophic wildfires, according to Pacific Power.
