Here’s what you need to know to start your day What now for PG&E? PG&E Corp.’s path out of bankruptcy has become much more complicated in recent days after Gov. Gavin Newsom said the company’s latest attempt to resolve its case fell “woefully short” of complying with a new state wildfire law. If Newsom gets his way, the end result will be a company that is very different than the one currently in charge of delivering electricity and natural gas to 16 million Californians. For now, PG&E must figure out how to salvage a $13.5 billion settlement with wildfire victims and fend off an alternate bankruptcy plan amid protests and efforts by cities to take over their own electricity. And it’s not at all clear how PG&E will deal with these mounting issues, reporter J.D. Morris writes .
