President's Budget Request Released

This morning the White House released its FY2021 budget request. We don't expect federal agencies to issue their detailed budget requestsknown as Congressional Justifications, or "CJ's"for another week or two. In the meantime, here's what we know now:
  • The total requested for DOE is $35.4B, an 8.3 percent cut from the FY2020 enacted budget.
  • DOE programs not related to defense or nuclear weapons to see a 29 percent cut.
  • There is no request for Yucca Mountain repository licensing funding. Instead, the administration "is initiating processes to develop alternative solutions and engaging states in developing an actionable path forward."
More information on the FY2021 budget request can be found HEREWe will be providing additional information as it becomes available.
