How the next generation of nuclear reactors could be smaller, greener and safer | PBS NewsHour: Small modular reactors, or SMRs, are part of a new generation of advanced nuclear technology that could potentially play a role in increasing the United States' supply of carbon-neutral energy. But these reactors have yet to be approved by the U.S. government for construction, and questions remain over whether they will be as safe and cost efficient in practice as they are in theory.
