Belarus' new nuclear power plant complicates Baltic energy alignment / Article / Eng.lsm.lv: Belarus recently put its controversial new Astravyets nuclear power plant into operation, though problems were quickly reported. Located just 50 kilometers from the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, and 150 km from Latvia's second-largest city, Daugavpils, its presence has complicated recent progress made by the Baltic states in aligning their energy markets and supply sources.
