Report: NRC needs more tools to try to keep terrorists from getting jobs at nuclear plants By MICHAEL GORMLEY , Associated Press

Enhanced measures recommended to protect plants from terrorists
Federal auditors said the Nuclear Regulatory Commission should have greater access to criminal and foreign-travel records to prevent terrorists from becoming employed within U.S. nuclear facilities. This comes after the arrest of Sharif Mobley, a suspected al-Qaeda member whom authorities said was an employee at a New Jersey plant for six years. "The terrorists look for our weak pressure points, and it's certainly possible they may say, 'Maybe we can send someone to infiltrate a nuclear power plant,'" said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y.
