- Duke Energy is still considering shares in new S.C. reactors
Duke
Energy is still studying acquiring a portion of Santee Cooper's shares
in the new reactors being developed at the V.C. Summer nuclear plant in
South Carolina, said Jim Rogers, Duke Energy's chairman, president and
CEO. "We believe that regional, nuclear generation makes a lot of sense,
as it smooths out the customer-rate impact and adds less immediate
stress to the balance sheet, proving greater flexibility for our
projects," Rogers said. SNL Interactive (free content)
