Mars rover is powered by INL-developed nuclear battery
A team of Idaho National Laboratory researchers helped develop the $100 million nuclear battery that is powering NASA's Curiosity rover on Mars. "People call it a battery, but it's actually a power system because it doesn't need to be recharged," said Stephen Johnson, division director of Space Nuclear Systems and Technology at INL.
