Energy Abundance, The Moral High Ground
Energy Abundance, The Moral High Ground
At Entreprenuclear, actually using energy is contrasted with the concept of "Negawatts", with 2 intended takeaways.
1. Using energy does not make you a bad person.
2. Avoidance of energy usage is not inherently morally superior to the numerous positive uses of energy.

US support for wind projects could be wasting 2.9 billion in federal funds: GAO
"Federal support in excess of what is needed to
induce projects to be built could instead be used to induce other
projects to be built or simply withheld, thereby reducing federal
expenditures," GAO said in a report. "In the current fiscally
constrained environment, effective allocation of resources is especially
important."

Senator Ron Wyden (R–OR), chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, is expected to put forth a bill to reform nuclear waste management in the U.S. According to media reports, the bill under consideration maintains the same basic structure of America’s current, failed system for waste management. While such a bill might meet some near-term interests of the federal government and the nuclear utilities, it would make implementing the reforms necessary to fix nuclear waste policy over the long-term almost impossible.http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2013/03/nuclear-waste-management-minimum-requirements-for-reforms-and-legislation

IMF Report Calls for Governments to Drop $1.9 Trillion Energy Subsidies
by peixej@oilprice.com (Joao Peixe)
The
International Monetary Fund (IMF) has just released a report covering a
study into energy subsidies around the world and how much they cost
governments. They analysed 176 countries and concluded that global
energy subsidies cost the governments $1.9 trillion and discourage
private investment in the sector. They even suggest that getting rid of
all energy subsidies could force people to be more efficient with their
energy consumption, leading to a 13 percent reduction in carbon dioxide
emissions.Carlo Cottarelli, the director of fiscal affairs…Read more...http://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/IMF-Report-Calls-for-Governments-to-Drop-1.9-Trillion-Energy-Subsidies.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+oilpricecom+%28Oil+Price.com+Daily+News+Update%29
