French nuclear giant Areva has tied up with Hitachi GE Nuclear Energy
to help Japan dismantle boiling-water nuclear power stations.http://www.japantoday.com/category/national/view/french-company-to-help-japan-dismantle-nuclear-reactors
Nuclear power is the only low-carbon technology that is available today that has the potential to be deployed on a wide scale and in large capacities to help meet the global climate–energy challenge.Nuclear power is the only low-carbon technology that is available today that has the potential to be deployed on a wide scale and in large capacities to help meet the global climate–energy challenge. First, direct greenhouse gas emissions from nuclear power plants are negligible. Secondly, when emissions over the entire life cycle are considered, hydro, nuclear, and wind-based electricity generation are the lowest CO2 emitters. Therefore, nuclear energy is ideally placed to mitigate the effects of climate change in a most cost effective way.
From Copenhagen to Paris The Current State of Climate Negotiations By Richie Ahuja, Jonathan Camuzeaux, Thomas Sterner, and Gernot Wagner
In
Paris, countries’ commitments to emissions reduction and financing
will be the key issues at the negotiating table. It suffices to say, the
conference in Paris will not solve these issues, but it has great
potential to provide a basis for increasing the ambitions of countries
to move forward on both issues.https://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/2015-11-25/copenhagen-paris?cid=nlc-twofa-20151126&sp_mid=50116164&sp_rid=bWljaGVsZXRrZWFybmV5QGdtYWlsLmNvbQS2&spMailingID=50116164&spUserID=NTA0ODY0NjAzNjcS1&spJobID=803592661&spReportId=ODAzNTkyNjYxS0

Video Highlights 1.3 Million-Pound Delivery To Vogtle
Georgia Power has shared a clip of the arrival of the
fourth and final 1.3 million-pound steam generator at the Vogtle nuclear
expansion site, showing the last leg of the massive component's journey
from South Korea to Waynesboro, Ga.
The steam generator for Unit 4 arrived through the Port of Savannah and traveled to the construction site near Waynesboro, Ga. via train. Each new AP1000 unit at Plant Vogtle requires two steam generators. Steam generators, measuring more than 80 feet long, are heat exchangers used to convert water into steam using the heat produced in a nuclear reactor core.View video and comment http://nuclearstreet.com/nuclear_power_industry_news/b/nuclear_power_news/archive/2015/11/25/video-highlights-1.3-million_2d00_pound-delivery-to-vogtle-112502.aspx#.VlX8VXuKI-9 |
