Dear Colleague, 2014 was an eventful year for nuclear decommissioning in Europe. The UK saw Cavendish Fluor Partnership's win the £4.2bn, 14 year contract to manage the Magnox and RSRL sites and DECC renewed its process for geological disposal site selection. In Germany, 2014 was marked by the stalemate over who should pay for the cost of decommissioning, with Germany's economy minister refusing to foot the bill in May and E.ON's chief executive calling for a public trust fund in December. Nuclear Energy Insider takes a look back at the UK and German decommissioning markets in 2014 and forecasts trends for the 2015 markets in our latest information pack.
