Middle Eastern countries look to nuclear energy to fuel economies
The U.S., U.K., France and Russia are racing to secure nuclear-construction contracts from Middle Eastern countries that are moving to produce more power to sustain their flourishing economies. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates last year signed preliminary deals with the U.S. for nuclear technology. Saudi Arabia announced it is working on proposals to build its first nuclear plant, while the UAE projects its first facility to be operational by 2015. United Press International
