take place as scheduled.
All,
On March 18, the NRC will be holding a public meeting in Plymouth, concerning Entergy’s Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.
We have the
opportunity to support our industry by showing
up at this meeting.
We know the
opponents will be attending and it is important that the pro-nuclear
voice be heard as well. We can deliver this support and convey the
message that the nuclear industry is continuously improving
to provide clean, safe, and reliable electricity.
Meeting Background:
The subject of the
meeting will be to discuss the NRC’s assessment of the safety
performance at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in 2014 and to discuss
the results of the Inspection Procedure (IP) 95002 supplemental
inspection completed on December 12, 2014.
The NRC assessment
stated; “On December 31, 2014, performance at Pilgrim was within the
Degraded Cornerstone Column of the NRC’s Reactor Oversight Process (ROP)
Action Matrix due to two White [Performance
Indicators] PIs related to scrams in the Initiating Events
cornerstone.” White PIs “represent performance outside an expected
range of nominal utility performance but related cornerstone objectives
are still being met.”
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at the Radisson Hotel at Plymouth Harbor, 180 Water Street. Prior to the end of the session NRC Staff will answer questions on the plant's performance, the agency's oversight activities and the team inspection.
