Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists

I am delighted to share with you the new Nuclear Fuel Cost Calculator that the Bulletin has created with partners at the University of Chicago. It is based on an economic model developed by University of Chicago professor (and Bulletin Science and Security Board member) Robert Rosner, with assistance from former colleagues at Argonne National Laboratory, researchers Sam Olofin and Jeremy Klavans, and support from the MacArthur Foundation.
This tool allows users to calculate the economic costs of nuclear power using a wide range of variables. It is meant to assist leaders and citizens from around the world as they make policy decisions about nuclear technology and fuel cycles. Bulletin editor John Mecklin provides a terrific introduction that helps contextualize the model. We welcome your feedback.
Sincerely,
Rachel Bronson, Ph.D.
