“We are the largest operating seawater [desalinization] plant on the West coast at this time,” asserts Terrence East, GE Water Field Area Manager at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant near San Luis Obispo, California.

The Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant, asserts Forbes magazine, is the only power plant in the state that “does not use any of the state’s precious fresh water,” and is, in fact, able to produce 825,000 gallons of fresh water per day more than it can use with an easy ramp up from its current production of 675,000 gallons per day.
