The ANS Annual Meeting will feature three communications sessions that will be interesting, informative and fun.
Monday, June 8, 1:00 p.m. in Lone Star E
Focus on Communications: Endorsing Nuclear Energy
As
popular culture portrays nuclear technology in recent movies like
Godzilla and Star Trek, more voices are talking about nuclear science
and nuclear energy. Big name supporters like Richard
Branson, Paul Allen, and Bill Gates draw mainstream media attention to
nuclear energy’s benefits. And national governments like Malaysia,
Bangladesh, and Kenya have captured the attention of diplomatic circles
as they include nuclear energy in their country’s
long-term energy plans. Moderator Laura Hermann will lead a panel
discussion that explores the opportunities and barriers to positively
position nuclear science and nuclear energy as new perspectives on the
technology shape international public opinion.
Panelists: • Tami Hollar (Nuclear Power Institute) • Kevan Weaver (TerraPower) • Benjamin Holtzman (Westinghouse)

approaches that work to open the minds of the public and policy makers
to nuclear energy. This panel’s decades of
experience ranges from new builds to decommissioning, used fuel storage
and recycling.
Panelists:
• Scott Peterson (Nuclear Energy Institute) • Buddy Eller (STP Nuclear
Operating Company) • Bryan Wilkes (CB&I Project Services Group) •
Maureen Brown (Southern California Edison)
