As first reported by The New York Times, 37 of the top scientists in the United States signed a letter addressed directly to president-elect Donald Trump, underscoring the urgency of maintaining the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), or the Iran Deal.

Six among the 37 scientists who endorsed the letter have been affiliated with the Federation of American Scientists, including the letter's key organizer, Richard L. Garwin (former Board of Trustees member and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient).

Other FAS-affiliated signatories include:
  • The late Sidney Drell (Board of Sponsors, former)
  • Freeman Dyson (Chair, former)
  • Charles Ferguson (President)
  • Martin Hellman (Board of Experts)
  • Frank von Hippel (Board of Trustees)
Please note that all organizations associated with the signatories reflect their professional affiliations and are for identification purposes only. Individual endorsements do not reflect an organizational endorsement by the Federation of American Scientists.
