In West Texas, spent fuel storage seeks a foothold

ANDREWS COUNTY, Texas — Influential voices here are lining up
to support a plan to store spent nuclear fuel in the area. While this is
envisioned as an interim solution for the United States, critics
question the proposal's safety and suggest the waste could be there
indefinitely. "Is it really worth the risk of our children, of our
future generations?" asks Elizabeth Padilla, a local resident.
