Dear Michele, U.S. nuclear waste policy has been in limbo for decades. It's far past time to move the Yucca Mountain licensing process forward and modernize our nuclear waste laws. Thankfully, our opportunity is finally here.  Later this week, the U.S. House of Representatives will consider H.R. 3053, the Nuclear Waste Amendments Act of 2018. If enacted, this bipartisan bill would integrate federal nuclear waste management activities, allow local stakeholders to engage directly with the federal government, provide for consolidated storage options, and reform the Nuclear Waste Fund. ANS supports H.R. 3053 because it is a strong step in the right direction toward a sensible, safe, and reliable nuclear waste program. We strongly encourage you to contact your Member of Congress and tell them to vote YES on H.R. 3053.
