Self-healing metal oxides could protect against corrosion | MIT News: MIT researchers have found a solid oxide protective coating for metals can, when applied in sufficiently thin layers, deform as if it were a liquid, filling cracks and gaps as they form. The material may be useful as a protective coating for hydrogen tanks, nuclear reactor components, and other applications.
