William "Bill" Corcoran Obituary
William Corcoran, 81, of Windsor, died Sunday, July 15, 2018. He is survived by his beloved wife, best friends and business partner Bonnie Jean Dibelius. Bill earned a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from MIT, and MS in Business from RPI and was an honors graduate of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. After his years in Nuclear Submarines, Bill worked at Combustion Engineering and Tenera Consulting Company. The last 21 years of his career he and his wife had their own safety consulting company, NSRC Corporation. He was honored as a fellow of the American Nuclear Society. Upon his retirement he was awarded a Presidential Citation by the ANS for 45 years of dedication to safety in the nuclear power industry. Bill was an avid runner having completed 17 marathons, a skier, kayaker and hiker. Care for the environment was an important aspect of Bill's way of living. Bill was predeceased by his sister Catherine. In addition to his wife he is survived by his brothers and sisters John, Joe, Mary, Dot, Margie and Randy; his daughters, Imber (Tony), Cate (Kristian), Jennifer (Andy); his grandchildren Chi and Clay (their father John), Gillian and Trixie. The world is a better and safer place because of Bill. He will be deeply missed. His family will receive friends from 10 AM to 11:30 AM on Friday, July 20 at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave Windsor followed by a memorial service with military honors at 11:30 AM.
