GEH Signs Agreement To Investigate Potential Of SMRs :: The Independent Global Nuclear News Agency: US-based GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy and state-controlled Czech utility ČEZ have signed a memorandum of understanding to examine the economic and technical feasibility of potentially constructing a BWRX-300 small modular reactor plant in the Czech Republic.

GEH said the agreement was the latest example of growing global interest in its SMR technology.

Daniel Beneš, chairman and chief executive officer of ČEZ said the company is already engaged with the development of SMRs, especially in its subsidiary ÚJV Řež. He said SMRs can be a significant alternative in the future that “we cannot ignore”.
