Trump Administration Is Not Trying To Save The Coal Industry, New Energy Secretary Says: Coal will probably continue to decline as a fuel for U. S. power plants, the secretary of energy said Friday, but it might prove to be a source for rare earth elements needed in batteries to back up renewables.
