Nuclear power plays key role in South Carolina's energy mix
With seven reactors, South Carolina is the biggest user of nuclear power in the Southeast, and such facilities supply 52% of the state's electricity, according to the federal Energy Information Administration. South Carolina Electric & Gas plans to build two reactors in the state within a decade, and Duke Energy is also considering one.
