Rep. Markey seeks more data about cooling-tank concern at Mass. plant
The
Nuclear Regulatory Commission needs to provide more data about a
cooling-tank leak that prompted the shutdown of Entergy's Palisades
nuclear plant in Massachusetts two weeks ago, said Rep. Edward Markey,
D-Mass. Markey said he is worried because the issue was discovered in
2011 yet Entergy and the NRC did nothing to address it. A new NRC
inspector has been deployed at the facility to monitor and study the
measures taken to fix the problem, a spokeswoman for the agency said. Kalamazoo Gazette (Mich.)
