Construction of a long-term repository for nuclear waste in Sweden requires more study, the country's Land and Environmental court said Tuesday.

The court's ruling went counter to the recommendation of the SSM, the Swedish nuclear power regulator, which recommended the repository which would be built at Forsmark in southwestern Sweden, The country currently stores 12,000 metric tons of spent fuel at a storage facility near the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant on the east coast, facing the Baltic Sea. Pressurizer Placed At Vogtle Unit 3 (With Video Clip)
 
Georgia Power’s Vogtle nuclear expansion project achieved a major milestone on Jan. 22 with the placement of the Unit 3 pressurizer, which will provide pressure control inside the reactor coolant system once the unit begins operating. The company provided a video clip.

The 225,000-pound pressurizer for Vogtle Unit 3 arrived via rail at the construction site in August 2014. The component was fabricated in Italy and shipped to the Port of Savannah, before being loaded onto a rail-car for the final leg of its journey.Read more and comment
