Germany Not Doing Enough To Replace Nuclear, Warns Think Tank :: The Independent Global Nuclear News Agency

Germany Not Doing Enough To Replace Nuclear, Warns Think Tank :: The Independent Global Nuclear News Agency: A slowdown in the installation of wind turbines and solar panels in Germany this year could put the country’s carbon reduction targets at risk, environmental think tank Agora Energiewende said.

Agora Energiewende warned in its annual report on the country’s Energiewende, or energy transition, that last year new onshore wind power capacity in Germany reached 700 MW, the lowest level in two decades, while in 2020 only another 1 GW might be built.

This would lag behind the 4.2 GW of capacity added every year between 2013 and 2017. It is also lower than the 2.5 GW of new capacity that the government expects to be added annually up to 2030 when renewable power production is due to make up 65% of the country’s electricity mix.

Rosenergoatom Launches Global Portal For Regulatory Documentation :: The Independent Global Nuclear News Agency

Rosenergoatom Launches Global Portal For Regulatory Documentation :: The Independent Global Nuclear News Agency: Russia’s state nuclear operator Rosenergoatom has launched an online regulatory and technical documentation service that will enable any nuclear power operator in the world to find documentation on running a Russian-designed nuclear power plant.

The company said the “technical documentation e-shop”, which had been running as a pilot project, will give operators worldwide access to the documentation on a PC, laptop or smartphone.

Rosenergoatom said e-shop customers will not need to produce their own regulatory documents, leading to significant cost and manpower savings. The service will streamline the process of obtaining licences and other permits from the authorities. It will improve the safe operation of plants at all stages of their life cycle and cut costs and timelines for construction.

Note 1: We recommend reading the Newsletter on your computer, not your phone, as some documents (e.g. PDFs) are much easier to read on a large computer screen… We’ve tried to use common fonts, etc. to minimize display issues.

Note 2: Originally this was a monthly Newsletter. However, as pertinent material proliferated, it has been issued more frequently. As a guideline, once we collect a hundred worthwhile articles, a new Newsletter will be issued on the following Monday. Recently this has resulted in a once every three weeks frequency — and occasionally once every two weeks.

Note 3: To accommodate numerous requests we got about prior articles, we’ve put together detailed archives — where you can search by year, or over the ten+ years of the Newsletter.

Note 4: Our intention is to put some balance into what most people see from the mainstream media about energy, environmental and education issues… As always, please pass the Newsletter on to open-minded citizens, and link to it on your social media sites. If there are others who you think would benefit from being on our Energy & Environmental email list, please let me know. If at any time you'd like to be taken off this list, simply send me an email saying that.

Note 5: This Newsletter is intended to supplement the material on our website, WiseEnergy.org. For wind warriors, the most important page there is the Winning page.

Note 6: I am not an attorney, so no material appearing in any of the Newsletters (or the WiseEnergy.org website) should be construed as giving legal advice. My recommendation has always been: consult a competent, licensed attorney when you are involved with legal issues.
