China
may wait to move forward with new nuclear reactors until its current
advanced reactors have been completed, according to BOC International
Holdings analyst Karl Liu. "There are indications that Chinese
policymakers want to wait for the AP1000s and EPRs under construction to
come online and see how they do operationally before approving new

Finland
is building a repository where used nuclear fuel can safely be stored
underground. It could take up to 100 years for the country to store all
of its used nuclear fuel in the facility.
Entergy
would like to complete the sale of its closed Vermont Yankee nuclear
plant as soon as possible but understands that it may not happen until
next year, according to Joseph Lynch, Entergy's senior government
affairs spokesman. Lynch added that proposed buyer NorthStar Group
should be submitting a revised post-shutdown plan for the plant in the

US consortium calls for public-private SMR support

A consortium of small modular reactor (SMR) developers and
customers has issued a policy statement setting out the benefits of
public-private partnerships to facilitate the commercialisation and
export of US-designed SMRs.
