Areva plans nuclear fuel facility in Japan
France's Areva announced it intends to construct a nuclear fuel-processing plant in Japan, more than doubling the nation's nuclear capacity in the face of rising demand. The facility, a joint project with Mitsubishi and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, will be used to turn enriched uranium into uranium oxide, according to Areva executive Remy Autebert. Japan will add 12 reactors over the next 10 years, with its nuclear dependency expected to reach 40% by 2030. Bloomberg
