Feds are working to develop safer nuclear technologies, Chu says
The country is continuing to work on a long-term strategy to develop safer nuclear technology, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said. In February, the department began a loan guarantee program to help finance the construction of the nation's first new nuclear plant in three decades.
