- Iran to produce 20% enriched uranium for research reactor
Iran aims to produce 20% enriched uranium within one year to make fuel rods for a medical-research reactor in Tehran, despite international concerns about the extent of its nuclear-development plans. Iran is forced to enrich uranium using low-enriched feedstock for the research reactor after a plan to import nuclear fuel collapsed early this year, according to a newspaper report quoting Ali Akbar Salehi, Iran's vice president and head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
