Germany on Saturday is scheduled to host a meeting of 10 nations committed to enhancing the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, the German Foreign Ministry announced (see GSN, Sept. 24, 2010).
The Friends of the Nonproliferation Treaty formed last September to build on the work of the 2010 NPT review conference. Its members are Australia, Canada, Chile, Japan, Germany, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. The group also focuses on preventing the spread of nuclear weapons and their elimination, according to a ministry release (German Foreign Ministry release, April 26).
