Japan tightens rules for nuclear plant backups
By Matt Smith, CNNTokyo (CNN) -- Japanese regulators issued tougher standards for emergency power at nuclear plants Saturday in response to the 4-week-old crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi power station.
Power stations will be required to have two diesel generators as backup power for each reactor unit, said Hidehiko Nishiyama, the chief spokesman for Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency. Current regulations require only one generator per unit.
And while we are busy making sure THAT type of accident never occurs again (indeed, cleverly closing the barn door well after the horses have escaped), all we have to do is wait, and eventually another unimaginable accident will catch us by surprise yet again. Surprise?! What fools these "experts" are!
