- Southern exec sees solution for long-term used-fuel storage
A solution will be devised for the long-term storage of the country's used nuclear fuel, said Buzz Miller, executive vice president of nuclear development for Southern Nuclear, which is building two new reactors at its Plant Vogtle in Georgia. In the meantime, there is ample room to keep the material at the facility, he said. "From our view, our job is to maintain them safely and securely, and there's no question we can do that, whether it's in the pools or in the dry cask," Miller said.
