Sandy utility update

Utilities continue restoration attempts in the northeast following storms More than 125,000 customers still remained without power over the weekend.

LIPA ignored warnings, had sluggish Sandy response, according to report After the Long Island Power Authority's drawn-out response to Hurricane Sandy, officials and ratepayers criticized the utility for its outdated outage management system.  

Con Ed estimates Sandy costs at $450 million
Most of its recovery work is complete, but the utility expects to take a financial hit.
