Hearing Notice: Subcommittee on Energy and Power
Continuation of American Energy Security and Innovation Series to Highlight Importance of Having Diverse Sources of Electricity
The Subcommittee on Energy and Power has scheduled a hearing for Tuesday, March 5, 2013,
at 10:00 a.m. in room 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The
hearing is entitled “American Energy Security and Innovation: The Role
of a Diverse Electricity Generation Portfolio.” Witnesses to be
announced.
Next
week’s hearing will examine the role of fuel diversity in the nation’s
electricity generation portfolio. Without a broad generation mix,
regions may become more vulnerable to supply disruptions and price
spikes that impact businesses and consumers. Witnesses will describe how
a diverse generation portfolio – coal, nuclear, natural gas,
hydropower, and renewables – plays a critical role in ensuring
affordable and reliable electricity.
The Majority Memorandum, a witness list, and witness testimony will be available here as they are posted.
