MOX Facility Could Face Sequestration Cut
Massive federal spending cuts due to take effect in March have worried
defenders of a planned $4.8 billion facility that would convert
nuclear-weapon plutonium into mixed-oxide fuel for use in atomic energy
reactors, Roll Call reported on Tuesday.
The White House Management and Budget Office has considered cutting funds for the unfinished Mixed-Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina, according to the newspaper.
President Obama should sustain funding for the MOX project, The State on Wednesday quoted six South Carolina lawmakers as saying in a written statement to the administration.http://www.nti.org/gsn/article/mox-facility-could-face-sequestration-cut/
