Amec Acquires Illinois Nuclear Firm Automated Engineering Services

International engineering firm Amec has purchased Automated Engineering Services Corp., an Illinois company that contracts with U.S. nuclear plants, for $29 million.

An Amec release said the U.S. company has annual revenues in excess of $30 million and employs about 175 people. It will be known as AMEC AES following the merger.

Previously employee-owned, AES began serving the nuclear industry in 1990 and has done work for about 30 U.S. nuclear plants, according to its website. The firm is known for boiling water reactor containment analysis, including hydrodynamic load development, Mark I piping analysis and safety relief valve transient analysis.
