CAST breakthrough in nuclear zirconium alloy tube fabrication

CAST breakthrough in nuclear zirconium alloy tube fabrication

China Representative at PACT European Affairs
Domestic supply of the zirconium tubes relies on imports.
CNNC mandated its subsidiary CNNC Areva Shanghai Tubing (CAST) to acquire the technology from the French company Areva, which includes a completed production line, key equipment procurement, personnel training and quality assurance reconstruction.
The agreement between CNNC and Areva was signed in November 2010 and the plant operation due to start in late 2012.
Since CAST received the manufacturing license from AREVA on November 6th this year, CNNC will rely more on the local supply.
The tubes will be used for China Jianzhong Nuclear Fuel Company based in Yibin (Sichuan).
