Transformer Explosion at Arkansas Nuclear One - Unit 2 offline

 

 

It seem pretty obvious that Unit 2 will be offline until Entergy is able to get a replacement transformer installed to supply off-site power to Unit 2. Per the reports from this morning, Unit 1 is still operating at 95% power.

The picture in this article shows the soot on the turbine building from the explosion (that soot definitely wasn't present when I left the site back in July), along with the steam plume from Unit 2 dumping steam following the reactor shutdown.
