- Duke Energy (DUK) says it plans to build a 750 MW natural gas power plant in South Carolina at the site of an existing coal-fired facility.
- South Carolina regulators approved the plant last month.
- The news is the latest in a series of moves by DUK away from coal-fired plants; earlier this week, the utility revealed plans for three new gas-fired Florida plants totaling nearly 2,000 MW of generation capacity.
